About the Conference

MEDIA, TRENDS & DEMOGRAPHICS

The Second Hispanic Media Conference will bring together media professionals, scholars, and students to examine media, trends, and demographics shaping the present and future of Hispanic media, journalism, broadcasting, workflows, and media business models.

Our 2020 conference will be virtual but no less impactful; it will expand its reach beyond the borders of the USA and into Latin America.

The conference is organized by the Hispanic Media Initiative at The University of Texas at Arlington, a program in the Department of Communication focusing on the advancement of Hispanic media education, journalism, and research.

University of Texas at Arlington

Department of Communication

The Department of Communication at the University of Texas at Arlington is a diverse community of engaged award-winning scholars and educators, enthusiastic students, and dedicated staff. With undergraduate majors in six areas of specialization, an Emerging Media Certificate program, a NATAS award-winning Spanish-language television newscast, and a master’s program that draws upon the expertise of faculty in Communication Studies, Communication Technology, and Mass Communication, UT Arlington offers a wealth of opportunities.

The 2nd Hispanic Media Conference is a virtual conference. All sessions will be held online via Microsoft Teams, so please download and install the app on your personal computer and/or mobile device.

Nick Valencia KEYNOTE.jpg

Nick Valencia is a CNN correspondent based in the network's global headquarters in Atlanta. He regularly appears across CNN, CNN International, HLN and CNN en Español.

Valencia has dedicated much of his attention in recent years to covering issues that impact the Latino community in the U.S., he has extensively covered race-related issues in America, including police shootings and protests across the country in Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Ferguson and Charlotte.
